Using Space explorer serial with Windows

Hi,
Can anyone help me? I have a Space Explorer with a serial connection that i used to use on a Linux system. Unfortunately I have changed company and now have to use windows. I can't afford a new 3dmouse.
Has anyone successfully used a serial connected device on windows?
Can I use an older driver?
Can I write a new driver using the SDK?
Or can I connect the device using a USB serial adapter?
I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had similar issues (I can't be the only one who has had to migrate between OS's).
Please HELP!

Space Explorer Serial device was made to work on Linux,Unix only.
No drivers were created for Windows OS.

You can try creating a driver by using the SDK
