The past two drivers (3.7.12,3.7.16) do something odd that the previous one I used (3.6.10) didn't do:
I have several paperspace layouts set up so they match the screen and then zoom in a little further, so that the actual paperspace boundary is not visible anymore. I then switch to model space and work in these viewports instead of the model tab as it allows me to set up the layer settings differently in each of the viewport.
This works fine with the 3.6.10 driver. However, the 3.7.10 and 3.7.12 driver do nothing but zoom out in that setting. When I switch to paperspace and zoom out so that at least a couple of the viewport boundaries are visible, than I can zoom and pan normal when going back into modelspace.
I went to great length creating routines to not have the paperspace boundaries visible when I work in viewports set up this way.
Any explanation for this or a suggestion how to work around this aside from just sticking with the old driver?

Hi,
Unfortunately I can not reproduce this. this is what I tried:
A) Open AutoCAD 2008
B) Open "3D House.dwg" sample
C) Switch to the "Layout1" tab
D) Zoom a bit in (no borders are visible anymore)
E) Stay in the layout tab, activate "Model space"
F) Verify navigation works
Do you have a hint for me how to reproduce the issue?

I was able to overcome this issue though I am not exactly clear what occurs:
On the left side of the screen I have the tool palettes docked and always open, on the right side I have the property palette docked and always open. When I widened either one of these palettes by just a little the Spaceball functioned normally again. And when I shrink the width of either palette beyond a certain width it reverts back to the previously described behavior of just zooming out and zooming out.
While it is a curiosity, it turned out to be a non-issue as I have no objection to the slightly widened palettes.
