Driver install failed

Hello, I'm having a bunch of trouble trying to update the drivers for my SpaceNavigator PE.

These are the errors I got when I last tried to complete the install:

I have Adobe design Premium CS3 (which includes Adobe Acrobat Professional), so it's not an issue with that. Once I also got error 3 when trying to install, but not this time.

I downloaded the correct driver for my device, which is a couple years old. I just now dug this thing out of my closet and really wanted to use it.
The only software it currently works for on my computer with the driver that came on the install disc is google earth. It won't work in my 3DS max 2009 with the current drivers, so any help with this would be appreciated.

I'm on Windows Vista 32bit SP2

Hi,

It seems some files from your previous installation got deleted and Windows is still searching them.

Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall as described in this article.

Does the installation work then?

If not - please run the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from Microsoft and ensure that all "3Dconnexion" or empty ("[]") entries are deleted.

Doing that got me further than I was before without errors, but it still continues to fail after it finishes installing. It says that it is deleting temporary files and then it says that it cant find any of the of .msi files that I know it extracted. Then it continues to uninstall itself.

Maybe if you could tell me where these files are I could manually locate them when it asks for them.

I worked around this myself by stopping the installation when it tells you to choose between complete and custom and then copying the temporary folder that the installer made in the Temp windows directory and pasting it on my desktop. Then I continued with the installer and manually directed it to each .msi file after it deleted them from the temporary folder for whatever reason.
