My work machine has XP 64-bit and I am trying to install Spaceball 4000FLX driver/software. At first, I kept getting error messages about error code 1719 (and nothing installed), which I found was related to the msi installation package. Did some work on Windows installer based on MS article, and now I get a "partial install" along with error code 1608. I have a folder called 3dconnexion with a few things in it, including a protk.dat which I copied to %ProEfolder%/text as instructed, which prompted Pro/E to try to load the driver, but it failed. I think the major problem is I don't actually have 3dxware installed. The installation package I'm running is 3DxSoftware_v2-8-2... but it doesn't install a control panel or anything, and the 3dconnexion entry in my programs list only has help topics under it... no executables for control panel or anything.
Device manager detects the hardware by name (it is a serial connection) but does not have it as properly installed (yellow exclamation point).
Any ideas?

Hi The111,
You have the correct driver for the Spaceball 4000: 3DxSoftware 2.8.2. The Spaceball 4000 is not supported anymore. The corresponding software isn't maintained any longer. This software package is just x86, no 64bit support.
