SpaceNavigator as 2d Mouse?

Post by LeeG »

Can the SpaceNavigator be configured with the existing drive to move the cursor like a normal mouse? Can I use the two buttons like left and right mouse buttons?
I am using it in Maya 8.5 on windows xp.

Open the 3dcontrol panel and look under button mappings
You'll find right, left, middle mouse button
You would not be able to move the cursor
Limitation is you cant hold the button down like you can the mouse

Hey LeeG, you can use the SpaceNavigator as a 2D mouse quite well if you download RBC9s driver/program for the controller.
View the instructions for installing/using Here
And download from Here

It's a really good little app, massive props to RB9C :D

Plz Logitech/3DConnexion, make an official one!!

I was gonna ask...is there a way to have the SpaceNavigator perform functions simply within windows?

Make it a volume nob is what I have in mind. But there are any number of ways I can see using it within windows.

Is it possible?

Hi maxim_311,

this is currently not possible. The SpaceNavigator was designed for use in 3D applications like CAD, DCC or GIS (i.e. Google Earth). We heard your request and will take your suggestion into account.

Hi everyone,
I know that the post is old but it seems not to be possible to download a software that allows the user to use SpaceNavigator as 2D mouse. I tried with 3DxWare 10 but there is no function that performs the operations I need. And I try to open a lot of links of RB9C's driver but the files did not found. Any link or suggestion for me?
Thanks.

I also like this idea. While it's a crazily expensive under-use of it's capabilities, the foot-print makes it very appealing as a regular mouse. This with my M$ Sculpt Ergonomic keyboard would make a nice combination.
