3D Nav. PE and Maya (Bind Toggle Obj. Movm. etc.)

Post by ManDay »

I'M experiencing several problems with Maya 09 and the PE of Space Navigator.

(1) When Maya is started I'm not able to bring up the standard 3DCCP rather than the Maya-3DCCP (the smaller one with Maya specific settings) unless binding the command to a key. I cannot call up the menu through the tray (it too brings up the Maya specific CP)

(2) Settings in the Maya specific CP and the standard CP are somewhat overlapping and neither of the CP is complete so I wonder whether it can be possible to actually fully configure everything

(3) I'm not able to bind toggle Object Movement to a key. I tried several commands from the Mapping-menu but none of them seems to work

(4) I prefer the camera- over object control (all axes inverted), however I naturally can't use inverted axes for moving an object. How can I use inverted axes for navigating and a different setup (if possible even different sens.) for object movement?

Thanks. Please put more effort in your driver software. This is no state of the art software whatsoever - it's not okay that such a professional product comes with thus poorly coded software.

This is by design. The 3Dconnexion control panel in Maya should be used to configure settings such as the button mapping specific to Maya. There should be no need to alter anything in the 3DxWare control panel.

See above.

There is only one command available to toggle the 'Enable Object Movement' setting. It is 'xToggleObjectControl' in the '3Dconnexion' category. To configure this to a button open the Maya 3Dconnexion control panel press the 'button mapping editor...' button, select the '3Dconnexion' category, select the 'xToggleObjectControl' command. Then either drag and drop the command - using the Maya paradigm i.e. middle mouse button - onto the button's text box, or right mouse button press and select the button where it should be assigned to.

Well, if you prefer camera control, then select the 'Camera' option in the Maya 3Dconnexion control panel; This option allows for first person navigation . If the 'Enable Object Movement' option is enabled then selecting an object will allow you to move that object in object control mode.

You are very welcome.
