I recently installed Space Navigator PE using the driver downloaded from the website. Initially everything worked fine. However now the 3D function in Google Earth is no longer working, the maps are flat. I've gone into Options and raised the elevation exaggeration to 2. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Google Earth. I've done a system restore to a time when GE worked. I've updated the driver on my Graphics Card (NVIDA GeForce 6600). No Joy!
The device seems to work fine in manipulating the maps, but now the 3D is gone. Without the 3D, the device is kind of pointless.
I'm not really following what 3D function in Google Earth you are talking about. It sounds like you have made changes in your Google Earth settings that may give you a greater 3D-dimensional effect like slanting your picture and being reasonably close to the earth. You may want to contact your Google Earth Support for advice on adjusting your settings to your liking for the usage and/or effect that you would like from their application. There's no settings that our device makes to toggle 2D and 3D modes off and on in Google Earth. Are you able to achieve these 2D and 3D settings, just using your regular windows mouse? Are you not able to pan and zoom with our device? Are you in some kind of map mode?
Google Earth (GE) normally has 3D available, and it has worked fine for several years using my regular 2-D mouse. After I installed the Space Navigator the views which normally had 3D effects, now are show as flat - no countor.
The Space Navigator device seems to work fine for Pan, Zoom, Rotate, etc.
I'd love to contact GE support, but I can no way to do that from their "support" website. Do you folks have a contact path you could share?
I guess, I'm still unclear as to what you are referring to as 3D. Is there some item under a menu, I need to toggle off and on? Or is it just a subjective perception? Did you update your Google Earth? What version of Google Earth do you have installed? (About Item under the Help Menu)
Are there layers you were using before that may be toggled off now. In the left column there is a section called 'Layers', Were you using something like 'street view' or 'terrain' before?
Enable 3D Buildings.
