Noob question: How to install for multiple users?
Hey there,
I'm just starting to get into setting up multiple users on my computer using Win XP (SP3). I set up my Space Traveler just fine using the Admin account. But when I log into any other account, the space traveler can't be recognized.
So, how do I go about making it so that all users can use the space traveler?
Thank you!
G

Re: How to install for multiple users?
Hi ginald,
normally the driver is installed for all users. Nothing special to consider.
But the device will work for only one logged in user. You can not have more than one user logged in and expect the driver to start for each user. The driver will only start for the first logged in user. Is this what you mean?

Hello uludwig,
Thanks for the reply. It would have been nice to have the device work for multiple users logged on simultaneously (like for a keyboard or mouse or USB drive), but I understand why that isn't so.
I actually re-started the computer and logged into a different account first and both times I did that, the device was not detected.
I also tried installing the driver as a different user. The new-install correctly detected the previous install and only checked to make sure that there weren't any new drivers or new options that I wanted. And in that case also, the device was still not detected.
Any ideas?

ginald,
please activate the logging of the driver. Open the 3Dconnexion Control Panel (icon in the system tray) and activate the item "Write Log File" in the "tools" menu. Restart the driver and start the demo or your application. Then move the knob of the device. If you have something you can send it to an email address I will send you in a PM.

Hi ginald,
thanks for the log files. I saw in the log file from the user that you get error 0x1e7 like this guy. I need to find a HIDdev.dll that fits to your driver.
Did you install 3DxSoftware 3.7.22?
When did you boot your machine the last time?
