Rhinoceros addin issue

Post by da6d2003 »

Here's my setup
Windows 7 Home Premium
64-bit

I'm using Rhino 4.0 and Matrix which is an addin for Rhino made by Gemvision.

My issues is this. When I start Matrix, the space pilot recognizes Rhinoceros just fine. When I start configuring the space pilot and save the configuration, the SP will not keep the settings and eventually stop working all together. A fresh uninstall and reinstall won't fix the problem until goto %APPDATA%/3dconnexion/3dxware/profiles and delete the profiles. Then I can do a fresh install and the pilot will work until I save a new configuration and it starts all over again. I'm not insane so I'm not going to keep doing the same thing over and over again.

Any suggestions?

hmmmmmmmmmmmm....

18 views and no suggestions?

This is a fresh computer with all fresh installs of the programs.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the 3dxware again and I'm gonna try it yet again.

More info

When I start rhino4, Spacepilot recognizes if just fine.

When I launch Matrix, (which loads rhino along with it) rhino is not recognized.

I've spoken with a few folks that also use Matrix and they haven't had any problems. None of them are using Windows7 and only one is using vista 64.

Does this help?

Check with Matrix Support

Post by Bryan »

Dear da6d2003,

Matrix is not a program that we know of that has incorporated use of 3Dconnexion devices as part of input that they use in their user interface. Although Rhinoceros itself is an application that does make use of 3Dconnexion devices, a plug-in based on Rhinoceros is actually a program in its own right which is taking advantage of portions of Rhinoceros's programming. Your results in Matrix are unknown. You may have some bleed through of some Rhinoceros features, but not necessary all of them. You would need to contact your Matrix support and see what support of 3Dconnexion input devices they have designed into their software, if any, and what specifications they may have.

Sincerely,
Bryan
