Hi, the LCD on my new spacepilot pro says "modeling" up at the top. How can I make more sets of commands? The documentation only has spacepilot not the pro version, and the picture there has a "mapping" field in the upper right where you can create new sets. Mine does not however. If I can't make different sets of controls "Modeling", "Lighting", "Animation", etc. how is this an upgrade over a device that could?
thanks.

Re: Spacepilot Pro in 3dsmax mapping question
Hi Artesiastp,
the SpacePilot has a button to browse through several configurations. This is not available with the SpacePilot PRO. Sorry.

... ok, so now my question is, why this step backwards in mapping features? sure I get 10 hotkeys, but I have to choose those 10 and can't swap to a different set.
Maybe make this clear on the product page, so students like myself can make a more informed decision when coughing up the extra $200 for pro as opposed to a referbished pilot.
Is this just a software thing? why can't the arrow keys take me to different sets of hotkeys if the driver would let me create it.
You put effort into a color display, and an applet to check blogs and emails ( ? ) and in exchange took away swapable keymaping...
Yeah, just a little unhappy with this.

I have been considering upgrading to a SpacePilot Pro, but I came across this thread and I am now wondering if it's worth it...
Do I understand correctly that 3DConnexion has removed the ability to cycle through different mapping configurations? If the SpacePilot could do it, then why would you make the SpacePilot Pro NOT be able to do it?
I understand that certain programs, like SolidWorks and Inventor, have different "environments" and the SpacePilot Pro is able to have different mapping configurations for the different environments. But 3ds Max does not have these "environments" so there needs to be another way to switch between different mappings.
Which of the buttons on the SpacePilot Pro are really actually customizeable for 3ds Max, Maya, and Photoshop?

3dsmax and maya you pretty much have just the 10 keys on the left (5 keys, 1 set of short press and one set of long press for each, so 10 hotkeys). Photoshop, what i've been doing since it doesn't utilize the right set of buttons that change the view, is remap those as well, as well as the buttons for dominate axis (never use it) translate and rotate modes. so that gives me 23 for photoshop.
It's sad they don't let us do it, it's a software limitation, and the up and down arrow keys by the LCD don't do anything once you're in the Function Keys App, they need to change it so when you're in the function keys app, up and down change the configuration. What's additionally frustrating is the LCD shows that you're in the "Modeling" configuration when you're in 3dsmax and maya. Why show the config title if you can't change it?
I'm hoping they will tell us they will change this, otherwise I might have to look a Multi Function Panel which might be cool to look into anyway. But it's so expensive and I already have an SPP so please update the software to make the up/down arrows change configs! =)

29 mappable buttons on the SpacePilot PRO
There are a total of 29 re-mappable buttons on the SpacePilot PRO for each environment. If 29 commands are not enough, you can save custom configurations in the '3Dconnexion Control Panel' using the 'Save As' Feature under the 'Options' Menu.
Sincerely,
Bryan

不好意思 这是没有用的
1.the '3Dconnexion Control Panel' on desktop is auto changing when the control pane in max2009 is changing--- sametime
桌面上的control panel 是随着max中的 control panel 命令改变而改变的
2.however you save how many 'mapping' in '3Dconnexion Control Panel' on desktop ,the commened botton will come to the same situation by the control pane in max automatic
所以不管你在桌面上的control pane 保存了多少mapping,只要max一运行其功能键就会自动刷到 跟max中的 control pane 一样, 只要max一行这个外部的control pane程序立即失去效力
i feel funny i am from china, first time use it .. that s dispoint to me
感觉搞笑 我来自中国 第一次用这个 但是对现在这个情况有点失望
