I tested it with 3.6.8 on Windows XP with the same results, I guess it's a hardware issue then. Very strange for this sort of hardware failure at this point in the device's life, but thankfully I'm still under warranty.

Hi,
I got a call from a customer yesterday - his department is using several SpaceExplorers, and (for about a week now) all of them have the behaviour that KAZL described some posts before.
After I finish zooming or rotating an object the object moves away and starts to rotate and move sideways.
The problem started about one week ago on all the clients (WinXP32), as they are within a big network updates and Windows hotfixes are distributed automatically at a centrally given date so maybe there is an issue between SpaceExplorer/USB-drivers and any recently installed Windows hotfix?

Would appreciate a comment because they are working in a construction department and have serious problems now with Solidworks.

Hello BWeiss,

Can you supply us with the serial numbers of the devices that are experiencing the problems?

Please try the Calibrate button when these devices are moving on their own. Let us know if that stops it.

Thanks.

What is the usual guarantee? my spacenavigator is 18 months old, and now stopped working alltogether - from one day to the next!! I am having serious trouble with the mouse, and did not see a solution in this tread, i was told too, to replace it. Seems to me it is a driver problem, not hardware.

Looks like you need to act fast for your SpaceNavigator. Best to call support. I've heard they are very helpful.

They are more than helpful - I was provided with a brand new spacenavigator within days. And what a joy; everything works, 100% - the old mouse really wás broken, it was not my drivers (or me doing anything wrong at my end) - and I am thrilled to be able to use the mouse again for my machinima. I am hooked again!
3DConnexion, you totally rock, I want to express my gratitude.
Outstanding service ;o)))

hello. its me ...again ...
last time i had spacenavigator where i bought it and they returned it to me and they said it is working ok.
so i have tested it on fresh installed win 7 64bit if it is really ok.
its not, i think device is broken. i cant do simple navigation movements on 3 different computers.
here is video in 3d connexion trainer.
first parts are easy, movements are locked, but i have difficulties with it too.
the last part is impossible...

SpaceNavigator defect?

Post by UtaSH »

Hi i-cube,

please try as well the simple demo, the Cube 3D (C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxWare\Cube3D.exe). How does it feel navigating this simple cube?

You could as well disable i.e. the Tilt/Spin/Roll and just feel the Pan/Zoom movements. And vice versa: disable Pan/Zoom and check Tilt/Spin/Roll. These settings can be done in the "Properties -> App Configuration" (started from 3DxHome).

If you have the same problems there please contact Technical Support
