Hi guys,
I've been using a spacepilot at work and a space navigator at home for a few years. However, the first time i installed it, there were instructions on where to place the various files to get it to work with 3ds max. I've now got a new computer at home and installed the 3d connexion software, but incredibly they managed to forget to include install instructions on where to put the .dlu and scripts to get it to work with 3ds max. I had a go myself, guessing the folders for the different files, and it works, but not without an annoying error message at startup, mentioning that the script specifies 2 dlls, one of which doesn't seem to exist.
I really hope i'm wrong on this and 3dConnexion do include install instructions with the downloaded software, but i've spent a while trying to find them (not mentioned in the 3d connexion readme, the 3d connexion help file, the 3ds max readme, the 3ds max help file) to no avail. I'm still in shock at the thought that such a fundamental part of instructions should be missing. Please prove me wrong or tell me how to install this thing properly.
How do you INSTALL this thing!?

Hi hughwyeth,
there is no need to copy any of the 3Dconnexion files manually. The installation procedure should copy everything needed to the place where it has to be. Do you have problems with your 3dsmax and the 3D mouse? What driver version did you install? Which Windows version are you working with? SP? What version is your 3dsmax?

On the downloads page there is a PDF which shows changes in the current version but nothing about installation.
There should be some basic installation instructions either in there or on the download page. Even if it just said: "Download the exe and run it".
But it should also mention something about when to plug in the device. Some devices have to be plugged in before you install the driver. With others the driver has to be installed first before the device is plugged in.
Sure you can just use trial and error but some basic guidance is definitely required.
