The lights are off- no one's home
I have a Space Pilot that I am having an issue with.
I have nailed down the cause.
Whenever I shut down my PC at the end of the day, the space pilot will not work in the morning.
I have tried the two button - unplug trick a dozen times with no relief.
The only thing that gets it going is a clean install.
I am not looking forward to doing this again. And my employer doesnt see the humor in it either.
This tool is essential for me in Mastercam due to how I set up my environment. Please give me a solution

Hi generaldisarray,
Are you using the latest version of the software for the SPP? You can get from our software download page.
What do you mean exactly? You start the driver and the device isn't recognised? For example, what happens when you open the "Jet" demo (Start menu, Programs, 3Dconnexion, 3Dconnexion 3DxWare, Demos)?Whenever I shut down my PC at the end of the day, the space pilot will not work in the morning.
This is an interesting piece of information. The only thing that gets it going is a clean install.

( right click open yeilds a flash of the hourglass no more)
nor will 3dx ware control panel open
Jet demo starts, I see a red wireframe aircraft for approx 5 seconds then it (the application)shuts down on its own.
I am using this version
3DxSoftware32_v3-10-1_r852.exe

After your machine reboots (device is not operational), unplug it. Open the "Device Manager" and expand the "Human Interface Devices" (HID). Now plug the device back in.
Do you see a new device appearing on that list after about 20 - 25 seconds (the time the device takes to complete) the initialisation procedrue)?
If a new device shows on that list, try now to run the "Jet" demo.

With the software uninstalled the device shows up as two entries in the device manager
HID compliant device
and
USB Human Interface Device----location 0 (space pilot)
The space pilot powers on but only shows the 3d connexion logo on the Lcd and does not function
Space pilot is plugged directly into the pc's front

Have you tried plugging the SpacePilot into a port on the system's back end?generaldisarray wrote:Space pilot is plugged directly into the pc's front
It may seem like a silly request but not all USB ports on a system are identical. Some are connected to internal hubs and may supply power just under what the device requires for a stable operation.

So
I now have the space pilot plugged into the rear of the pc.
I have 3DxSoftware32_v3-11-3_r955.exe installed.
the space pilot is working properly.
the demos work.
the device manager lists two devices, same as without the software.
now
Should I shut the pc down to see if it recognizes the space pilot on start-up?
I have not changed anything but the rear plug-in since the last failure.

Have you see a change in behaviour by plugging the device to a port on the back end?
What did happen when, with a functional device, you unplugged and re-plugged to the same port on the front? Would the device continue to work or was now necessary to re-install the software?

The device works the same, front or back.
I unplugged from the back and plugged into the front ports just now with a fully functional device.
It still works except the Lcd has bombed out and displays nothing.
not like an unplugged nothing. it is lit from either end. looks wierd. no text or anything displayed
all buttons work and it works in Mastercam.
I put it back in the rear.Lcd still doesnt work.

Hello generaldisarray,
after you did the "two-button-trick" does the device now work after a reboot?
