Will the Maya driver ever be updated?

Post by Valen Wagner »

With all the new stuff you're adding to the 3DS Max driver, when will you implement this into Maya? The center of rotation has always been a huge problem in Maya, and it never worked properly like the 3DConnexion manual said it should. One person on these forumns was nice enough to make a modified script that helped, but I want to know when 3DConnexion is going to permantly fix the Maya driver. Is there an update?

A member of this forum named "rasamaya" has modified a couple of the 3DConnexion files so that the device will properly rotate around the current selection - object or sub-object.

You need to swap a couple files with rasamaya's modified files. They are MagellanStartup.mel and C3DxMapping.mel and they can be read about and downloaded from this post:

They have worked great for me. I just wish 3DConnexion would acknowledge this error in there driver and fix it..................please....

I am getting errors like crazy when I have nested contraints in Maya. Do you have this problem too, when manipulating objects?

The only errors I get (or that I've noticed) are when I have more than one mesh selected. That is the only limitation to rasamaya's mod that I've seen.

Can some at 3DConnexion reply and let us know if you have plans to make the Maya driver more useable?
