New drivers won't install

Post by xqqqqme »

I have downloaded the most recent 64 bit drivers (3DxSoftware64_v3-11-3_r955.exe), but I get the following error message when I attempt to install them:

"The image file C:\3DxSoftware64_v3-11-3_r955.exe is valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine."

My OS is XP Pro x64. I have tried the current driver and the legacy drivers, and they all return the same message. I have done a complete uninstall, thinking that might be the issue, but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hadn't noticed the file size initially, but the downloaded driver file is only 196KB in size. Apparently this is why it won't load.

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Just formatted my hard drive last night, and now I cannot install the SpaceNavigator driver. It's only 1kb when I download it. And when I try to run it I get an error message saying:

"The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running...."

I'm running Windows 7 64 and have been running it for some time. The driver and SpaceNavigator worked just fine before I formatted my hard drive, so I don't know why "this version" of the driver wouldn't be compatible with my (yes, legitimate) version of Windows.

Any help?

I have the exact some problem. Running Windows 7 64-bit.

The device does not light up, but it does show up in devices and printers, but I can't get the software to load due to this error and I don't think windows is truly recognizing the devise. It just knows something is there.

I have the same problem as well. I even jumped through all the hoops to get registered here to post this reply. What a bear, I was pulling my hair out because I just got done building two new Windows 7 64 bit systems on 10-29-10 at work. Both got the full windows online update and then I installed the 3dconnexion drivers without a problem.

Now I've done a fresh install of windows 7 on my workstation at home with the same basic hardware and I've got the problem as described above. Must be something that changed between 10-29-10 and 11-6-10.

Here is what I've got and the error message:

Windows 7 64 bit - fresh install as of 11-6-10

also did a full Windows 7 Update enjoying the endless cycle of rebooting and making sure it actually finished all the updates by double checking in the windows update section of the control panel... not sure why M/S can't get them all in one shot...

Space Navigator - Driver 3-11-3

I have tried giving the program admin privileges and also played with the compatibility mode settings. All efforts lead to this error message

"This version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you're running. Check your comptuer's system information to see whether you need an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher."

I bet I've got a copy of the driver from 10-29-10 at work and I'll try that and reply here if it works. Got to wait till Monday for that though. The systems at my office have the same version of the space navigator as my home PC and the same Windows 7 updates and they are working fine.

Well it's good to hear I'm not the only one having this problem. Yes, if you could share the "old" driver come next week that would be great. I HATE using my mouse in CAD :)

Also, I got the same error message while trying to install the BIOS update utility for my MoBo from Asus. This program is from a different developer and triggered the same issue. Maybe the problem is with a recent windows 7 update?

The download file is damaged. You can see it, when you open the file with an text-editor. Than you can see following error-message:
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 123904001 bytes) in /webtree/htdocs/typo3/typo3conf/sugardownload.php on line 19
awesome. didn't bother to think of opening the place holder file. 3DConnexion is powered by a SugarCRM CMS system.

Looks like the core server software crapped out and the admins are on holiday. LOL.

Why can't they just partner with a hosting mirror? It's a driver file, not a trade secret.
