profiles not appearing

Post by mishikwest »

I've got several different profiles created, and I'll press my panel/config button to switch, however NONE of them will show up as a choice on occasion. Intermittent problem. Can't make heads or tails what starts it. Re-starting pc and/or drivers do not help. Tried several different drivers.

Spacepilot
driver versio 6.11.1
firmware 3.12
:(

Hello Mishikwest -

The profiles displayed when you press the Config button are specific to the application you are in. For instance if the profiles are for SolidWorks and you press the Config button when SolidWorks does not have the Windows focus, you won't see those profiles. If you click in your application then try the Config button again , do the profiles show up ?

Thx for the reply Barbara.

When I'm in my desired application that's when I try to select a specific profile. It's almost as if if loses the path to my profile folder and instead is displaying a few of the default profiles. Incidentally I'm on win7 x64 and my profiles are in here:

C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\profiles

Latest sequence of events:

-Was using a program (Camtasia) that I have a profile for, however was not in my list. Closed and restarted camtasia a few times, closed and restarted 3dconn drivers a few times, re-booted. Nothing. Gave up and worked in camtasia without spacepilot. Leave camtasia running.

-Walked away from my computer for a few hrs, came back and WITHOUT touching anything, not even waking it up, I see my spacepilot display saying my custom named profile. ! My pc goes to sleep after 30min.

-Incidentally I've copied these .scg files between a few computers and don't have this problem on them. :?

Hello Mishikwest -

On Win 7 x64 - depending on how the permissions are set up and which security firewall apllication is used - it can be useful to add an extra admin permission for the 3Dconnexion executable and create a firewall/antivirus exception for it.

The default location of 3dxsrve.exe is C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware\3DxWare\3dxsrv.exe

1. Right-click 3dxsrv.exe - Select the Compatibility tab and
only check 'Run as administrator' 2. Add 3dxsrv.exe to your security/firewall/anti-virus application as an allowed program.

In the Windows Firewall use 'Allow a program through Windows Firewall' then navigate to 3dxsrv.exe. Other firewalls and security software have similar methods for adding exclusions.

If a security application is causing the delayed or intermittent availability of the profiles ,these steps should resolve it.
