Win 7 64 Bit SpacePilot Install Issue

Post by marshie73 »

Spec - Dell Precision Laptop M6500 - Win 7 64 Bit OS

Can somebody please explain...And the story is a little something like this...I have spent the best part of a week trying to install the drivers & software for my 3D Connexion hardware onto my new laptop only to discover that nothing worked on reboot. Very frustrating I know, but I refuse to be beaten !!!

Until this morning..... When, upon my voyage of discovery, I decided to turn off the 'password protection' on my windows user account...

Voila !!! I can now spin, zoom, rotate & generally show off again in no given order thanks to this moment of genius !!!

So back to my simple question........... Why does it do this ???

Paul,

I do not see how the problem could be related to the password of your windows. But we have had reports of the antivirus software stopping the 3D mouse to work properly. For example Bitdefender. See this post.

ULudwig,

I've read through this post, and find it interesting because I too use BitDefender as an anti virus program.

I do agree that the problem should not arise because of the windows password screen on inital startup. On reading your post, I tested this theory again by adding password rights to the log in, and sure enough, the 3d mouse does not work. Remove the password rights, and the hardware works. Its looking pretty conclusive to me !
