what problems did you have during installation? Did you get error messages? If yes, what did they say?
Sounds as if the installation on you machine got faulty? I recommend you first do a clean uninstall and then re-install the driver again. Please see here for information on how to do that. Then check if the problem still exists. It might be a good idea to enable logging during installation to see where a problem occurs if you again have problems. There were no real error messages, but it did hang on several points for real long. I let it go for 15min once, but there was no CPU activity so I canceled it.
I tried a "normal" uninstall, but 3Dconnexion isn't in the app list!?

Oh yes; What I discovered is that when I manually start the driver, in the task-manager it appears for a few seconds, and then it disappears again.
