OK, I've read a couple of posts on this forum pertaining to my problem and unfortunately none of the solutions have seemed to work for me. Here's the situation.
I get done setting up my my button configuration in the 3dConnexion Properties (accessed through the system tray) also I have customized my sensitivity so that the mouse operates the way i like it. It works alright for a while but when I close Solid Edge (or when it crashes as the case is more often than not (not enough memory)) all my button configurations are gone or reset to defaults, also all my slider configurations are reset as well.
One of the threads on this forum that seemed to be a spot on description of my problem suggested that the button configuration should be set up through Solid Edge (or whichever program that is using the mouse, I think in that case they were using SolidWorks). There are 3 problems with this workaround for me:
1. I like to reprogram my + and - buttons which cannot be reprogrammed through Solid Edge.
2. The sliders cannot be adjusted through that screen and I'm not a fan of the default zoom direction.
3. I tried it just to see if it works anyways and all the buttons I can change do not work either.
Also, I'm losing all of my 'custom functions' whenever I restart Solid Edge as well for example I've mapped Hide Part to Ctrl+` in Solid Edge and then set the '-' button on my SpaceExplorer to run the macro <Ctrl> + <`>. This macro disappears along with half a dozen other ones which I also have to reprogram each time I restart Solid Edge.
So, what I'm wondering is if anyone else is having these problems or how to fix them. This problem is independent of any specific program (I can get it to happen in the demo programs that come with the mouse as well).

Automatically Save Configurations
Dear Darrencarr,
In the 3Dconnexion Control Panel under the 'Options' Menu make sure you have 'Automatically Save Configurations' checked on.
Sincerely,
Bryan g.

It never fails, you post a question after messing with things for hours and you find a solution on your own almost immediately. My solution was to turn the auto save off and it suddenly stopped undoing all of my commands. I don't think it's the way that it's supposed to work but it's working alright so far.
Thanks for the quick reply though.
