Space Pilot Pro not working in Inventor 2011

Post by BHarv »

Not sure what happened but my Space Pilot Pro stopped working inside of the editing screens in Inventor. I can click outside of inventor and then it works fine, but when I click inside to pick a part to edit or rotate it doesn't move at all. I can still rotate or zoom the parts or model using the program keys but not with my Space Pilot. Anyone else run into this problem :?:

Space Pilot Pro not working in Inventor 2011

Hello BHarv -

This type of problem can be caused by data corruption in a profile or registry key.To determine whether a custom profile is the source of a problem, close Inventor, delete the profile, restart the driver, re-open Inventor. You can remove a custom profile using the 3Dconnexion Control Panel [3Dconnexion Control Panel – Options- Delete Saved Configuration]. If you are seeing the problem only in parts documents , you can remove only the parts profile or you can remove all of the Inventor profiles to return to defaults.

If this does not take care of the problem, the source would be a registry key rather than a profile. You can use the Clean Install steps to resolve it.

BHarv,

if you cannot solve the problem with the hints from Barbara, please contact the support of Inventor. Autodesk implemented the navigation with the 3D mouse into Inventor.

I assume that the demos still work?

We had a few cases like this, but never were able to reproduce. What did you change on your system? Did you install a new antivirus system? Or any Windows Update?

In case you get help from Autodesk we would appreciate if you share the information. Thanks!

Stopped Working

Post by BHarv »

Barbara,
The problem turned out to be a corrupted registry key of the 3Dx Drivers which after I removed the key and reinstalled the 3D mouse drivers, it started working just fine again. I'm not sure exactly what caused it but I think it may have been while I was in AutoCAD and the current 3D driver problems there may have caused the key to become corrupted. Autodesk has informed me that the fix for my 3D mouse use in AutoCAD is in the upcoming 2012 release. And hopefully then I'll be able to use Inventor and AutoCAD at the same time in my daily workflow of projects. :D

Hi BHarv,
The problem turned out to be a corrupted registry key of the 3Dx Drivers
Do you recall what key was that?
