windows XP 32bit general 2D mouse/pointer device support

Post by mikaeljensen »

I was in the market for a device that could assist me in getting rid of the Mouse injury in my shoulder, and was happy to see that Space Navigator might be able to fill the void.

Sadly it looks like I bought a device that is fine tuned to work in 3D applications only.
Though I like to tinker around in 3D apps for fun, my main focus is plain widows desktop 2D appliances.
The Space Navigator doesn't pop up in the control panel as a mouse device...

The question is: Is there any way I can get windows to accept the Space Navigator as a generic pointing device?

The next generation of 3DxSoftware (v4) adds the ability to use your SpaceNavigator as a 2D mouse. It is in closed beta now, but an open beta will be conducted "soon". We don't have anyone using it primarily as a 2D mouse now. I would be curious to see how you get on with it, once this enhancement is made publicly available.

Keep your eye on the 3DxLabs site for beta information.
