Hi,
As I mentioned in a previous post, I often use Max 9 for preparing models to sell online. However I do the modeling in Max2011, and use Max 9 for creating materials and rendering preview images. So I often have both versions open at the same time.
As you may be aware, Max2010+ has some viewport commands that Max9 does not. I think it's ActiveViewport1,2,3,etc... It's a nicer way to switch views in max2011. Max9 doesn't support these commands however. Ok, no big deal really. I wrote some scripts to help out with that and placed those in the SpacePilot buttons for Front, Left, Top, etc.
But I'm surprised that the SpacePilot doesn't differentiate between the two different versions of Max. Because if I go from 2011 (where I just set the L,T,R,F buttons to use ActiveViewport commands) to Max 9, those same buttons go blank or to some other random commands because the ActiveViewport commands don't exist.
Would there be any chance of getting a fix for this in future drivers? Coincidentally, Wacom has a similar issue with it's tablet software. So obviously this isn't a common complaint from users I suppose, but it would be nice if the drivers could handle this. Maybe by process ID instead of just process?
Thanks,
John
