Lost SolidWorks Settings

Hello to all,

I have a SpacePilot Pro and updated the driver, after updating I have lost all of my cutomized functions for SolidWorks 2011 SP4.

This is the second time this has happened. It's not that difficult to redo the customizations but I was wondering if I am doing something wrong or is this something that is normal.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Jeff -

You're correct to expect the button mapping to remain saved in your profile through an update. It is designed so that you can even uninstall the 3Dconnexion software without losing the button mapping.

Are you mapping the SpacePilotPRO buttons in the editor inside SolidWorks ? This is the editor that opens when you click the Menu button on the SpacePilotPRO and choose Customize Buttons.

There is also an Import/Export function in the SolidWorks 3DControl menu you can create a backup for your button mapping.

After a re-install or update the 3Dconnexion software you may need to initially select your profile from the drop-down list in the 3DConnexion Control Panel.Saved profiles are listed as ApplicationName| Environment|login name.

The SpacePilotPRO creates a different profile for each SolidWorks environment and the add-in will switch profiles when you open a different type of document - i.e Parts or Assembly - so make sure you're in the same type of document where your button mapping was saved.

Thank You for responding.

I do use the Customize Buttons command thru the Menu button on the SPP. However, I had not been exporting that file. I will do that now and hopefully I will not have to customize again.
