Windows 7 64-bit, NX6 and SpacePilot

Post by Concierge »

I am a IT support person and at my company they are rolling out Win7 64 and many engineers have either the SpacePilot or SpacePilot Pro. I have one user that cannot get NX6 to see the SpacePilot. We have downloaded the driver directly from 3DConnecion for the Win7 64bit. It is recognized in every application except NX6.

Is there a configuration I am missing?

Thoughts?

Windows 7 64-bit, NX6 and SpacePilot

Hello Concierge -

If our devices are working in other apps on the PC, it is most likely a permissions issue. When NX is run as administrator, the 3Dconnexion software - 3dxsrv.exe - needs to be run as administrator. Add the 'Run as administrator' permission to 3dxsrv.exe then start NX.

If you have navigation in NX but the button mapping is unavailable, this FAQ explains what needs to be done.If there is more than one NX version installed, the steps need to be done for each version.Correcting the environment variables only needs to be done if the 3DxNX button mapping is not available.

If NX was installed after the 3Dconnexion software, you can run the 3Dconnexion installation again or use the Repair function in Programs and Features to install the 3DxNX add-in.

The problem is sometimes programs are elevated and some are are not.

Will non-elevate applications ie NX/Ansys still admin work with a spacepilot driver that is elevated?

Yes , there may be only one application installed as administrator and other applications installed from a user profile - the 3Dconnexion software installed with elevated privileges will work with both.

Top level buttons not working for some suers

Post by jphillips513 »

Hello and thanks again for the help in the earlier post.

A new issue has surfaced. The user-customizable buttons do not appear to work on the SpacePilot on Win 7 x64 inside of NX. The view/rotate works.

Do you have any thoughts what could be causing them not to work correctly?
