I am reposting this problem to do with a Windows 7 /Inventor Install problem.
Moderator Barbara did an initial reply listed under this same heading. Please see her reply and this follows on from that...
I did find the Button mapping editor (just named this -- not 3dxInventorButton Mapping Editor as per your reply), however the 'New' and 'Delete ' buttons are greyed out as is the window with the name of the current assembly etc in it. (I would like to attach a screen shot but I hope you understand what I am seeing!). I can find the return command in the middle pane (by selecting all commands in the LH pane), and I can drag that command into the RH button box, however this does not function when pressing the button. Also in the home / News page only 'Any application' and 'Inventor' are listed ( not sketchup ) and any button assignments are lost in Inventor. I tried again installing the software. after a clean uninstall, with all apps closed all to no avail. Just wondering if I should reinstall Inventor ( I have done a 'Repair' to do with other issues in Inventor ). Look forward to hearing back from you. Hope someone may have any other ideas. Kind Regards
- It is normal that New and Delete are greyed out when using a SpaceNavigator. These are for the SpacePilot where it is possible have more than one configuration per environment.
- In the current software the left button on the SpaceNavigator is linked to the pop-up menu in Inventor. It is not able to be re-mapped in this version.
- If you click on a Category in the left column, it lists the Commands in the right column. A command highlighted in the right column should be able to be dragged to your right SpaceNavigator button to re-map it. [Start,Programs, 3Dconnexion, Documentation- Manuals - English Manual - Supported Applications-Autodesk Inventor]
- You're right that the Button Mapping Editor has that title and not '3dxInventor Button Mapping Editor'. 3DxInventor is the 3Dconnexion Inventor add-in - I mentioned the 3dxInventor Button Mapping Editor to differentiate from the button mapping found in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel.
Once you make a change such as mapping a button the profile name - Inventor - will have your login name appended to it.
The profile names are shown in the 3Dconnexion Control Panel drop-down list only when the application is open.
If you map one of the commands to the right SpaceNavigator button, when you re-open your Inventor document, do you still see the button mapped ?
You mentioned navigation is working in SketchUp. When you move the SpaceNavigator in the SketchUp window ,you should see SketchUp listed at the top of the 3Dconnexion Control Panel.
SketchUp also has a 3Dconnexion pop-up menu which maps to the left SpaceNavigator button. You should be able to map the right SpaceNavigator button for SketchUp using the 3Dconnexion Control Panel Button Configuration tab.
Hi Barbara. Thankyou very much for your further reply. I dont know what I was doing before, but everything now seems to be working as pre Windows 7. Not sure if it made a difference , but, trying to map a return command to the RH button, I selected return from one of the 3dconnexion categories (at top) as opposed to before in the 'All commands' list further down. This now stays mapped in the Inventor Control panel and it works! Before it just wouldnt remain. Yes both Inventor and Sketchup show in the main control panel with my user name appended. I am also getting the buttons working in Sketchup although at the moment I havent decided what command to assign the button to. Many thanks again. ''
