In Altium the SpaceNavigator works wonderfully for a while, then abruptly stops. Altium is fully responsive but SpaceNavigator fails in all views and windows, both axis and buttons are non-responsive.
SpaceNavigator is using latest drivers installed yesterday, unit arrived brand new yesterday. Altium is Release 10 (latest).
I cant find any altium menu item to configure the SpaceNav plugin or to restart/reload it.
Now, I'll also give my feedback on the device:
I like that the SpaceNav works in both 3D PCB view, and the schematic and 2D PCB views. Really nice! Makes inspecting 2D views much smoother/easier than the mouse. 3D view is just awesome! Because the motion is smooth and 6DOF (?) of input my brain interprets the 3D effect more immersively - it really brings the object alive instead of a flat projection. It's like "persistence of vision" created in 3D. It's uncanny.

SpaceNavgatr stops working in Altium after time
Hello guru_florida -
When the SpaceNavigator stops working , does it restart if you unplug it from the USB port then plug it back in and restart the driver? [Start, All Programs, 3Dconnexion, Driver, Start Driver]
If not, try these steps:
Unplug the SpaceNavigator
Hold down button #1 and button #2 on the SpaceNavigator
While holding the buttons
plug in the device
wait about 15 seconds
release the 2 buttons
now start the driver.
You can use the installed demos to make sure it is working outside of your applications before starting Altium.
Make sure that the SpaceNavigator is plugged into a USB port on the PC rather than a hub , adapter or monitor.
If you continue to have the problem, please contact 3Dconnexion Technical Support

Space Navigator won't start
I have exactly the OPPOSITE problem, and it only occurs on my Windows 7 computer.
My problem is that Altium Designer remains unresponsive to the Space Navigator at first.
Then I manually try to start 3dxware from the start menu, then the blue LEDs turn on around the base, and I get a message box in Windows stating that the driver was already started.
After that Altium Designer can respond to the Navigator.
I think this is a driver issue relating to Windows 7, not an Altium Designer issue, because the blue LEDs not being on at first is a tell-tale that part of the 3dconnexion software has not started when the computer first boots up.

Space Navigator won't start
Hello Ben -
This is a bit different than what we typically see so I want to ask a few questions.
Is the PC just being turned on when this is happening? Is the SpaceNavigator plugged directly into a USB port?Is it being plugged in again when you are starting the driver?
When you start the driver manually are you seeing the Windows UAC prompt asking if you want to allow the software to run?
Is this a network or personal PC? Security software can keep the driver from being able to start automatically so this of course varies with the type of firewall and security used.If this is what you are seeing we can help with creating an exception for the driver executable.
