the error message is

"Error 1324. The path Manuel en Fran?is contains an invalid character."

and

"3Dconnexion 3DxWare (x64) installation failed. Error: 1603 Do you wish to continue?"

my user name is "administrator"and pc name is "swan-pc" that has no invalid character.

Hello Lancelot,

The Beta driver installs differently than the 3DxWare driver.

Some installation programs will not run, if East Asian languages are the default. The installation is having difficulty understanding the profile name.

Can you add another profile with administrator rights then install allowing all users?

The path Manuel en Fran looks like it is failing at installing not sure if its French or Swedish, Help files.

How far does the install get?
Is this error at the start or when installing the add-ins?

Hi iancelot,

it would be helpful if you could provide us with the logfiles from the installation. Please see here how to generate them. I will send you a PM with the email address where you can send the log files. Once you have sent them please post here.

Hi iancelot,

thanks for sending the pictures and the log file. There seems to be a problem with your Korean operating system. We will look into this and come back to you.

I am Korean (so, my workstation is Windows 7 Ultimate K 64bit). And I had the same problem.

I downloaded 3DxSoftware_v3-8-2 and installed it with Administrator privilege. I have checked on two computers so far, and it worked on both of them.

Error 1324 My Picture contains invalid path:

If the My Pictures folder is not on your computer, or the path is incorrect add a new folder that is named My Pictures, and then change the registry to point to the My Pictures folder. To do this, follow these steps.

Note: Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
Click Start, and then double-click My Documents.
On the File menu, point to New, and then click Folder.
Type My Pictures, and then press ENTER to name the new folder.
Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.

Expand the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
Click Shell Folders, right-click My Pictures, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the path of the My Pictures folder that you added in steps 1 through 3, and then click OK.

For example, the path of the My Pictures folder may be one of the following:
C:\My Documents\My Pictures
C:\Documents and Settings\Your_User_Name\My Documents\My Pictures
%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\My Pictures

Expand the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Click User Shell Folders, right-click My Pictures, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the path of the My Pictures folder, and then click OK.

Expand the following registry subkey:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
Click User Shell Folders, right-click My Pictures, and then click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the path of the My Pictures folder, and then click OK.
Quit Registry Editor, and then restart your computer.

Error 1603 occurs when the installer does not find sufficient privileges to install the software. Error 1603 indicates 'Access is denied'.

The 3Dconnexion software needs to be installed installed from a profile with full administrator privileges. The installation needs to be able to write to the Windows registry. If this is a networked PC and you do not have full permissions,an IT person would need to do the installation. If it is a home PC, you need to log in from an administrator profile to run the installation.

In some cases there is additional text with this error indicating "Another installation is already in progress. Complete that installation before proceeding with this install."

This can happen when one of the windows in the installation is behind another window so it is not being completed. If you are not reaching the 'Finish' screen in the installation , check that it is not being blocked by your security or anti-virus software. There is often a prompt from Windows UAC or the security software asking if you want to allow the installation that needs to be clicked before the installation will proceed.

Running the installation after it has been saved to your PC rather than directly from the web site is recommended. When the installation is run from the web site or over a network, it is possible for an installation component to be requested before it has finished downloading - saving to your PC prevents this problem.

Use Windows Disk CleanUp to clear the Temporary Files folder .The installation extracts its files into this folder so a problem such as corrupted files could cause the installation to not be able to finish correctly. Disk CleanUp will display a dialog box showing the different categories of temporary files that can be deleted. Select the check box next to Temporary Files. Once this has completed , run the installation again.[Start|Programs|Accessories|System Tools| Disk CleanUp]
