conflict between 3dconnexion and logitech G15 keyboard?

Post by paw9000 »

hi

I have a 3dconnexion Space Pilot Pro, and a logitech G15 keyboard, and ever since installing the 3dconnexion device the LCD display on my G15 keyboard keeps on flashing like every second between the performance monitor and the clock option. The flashing is very uncomfortable. The LCD display on my SpacePiloet is fine, it does not flash.

(I did some searches in the forums and I see other people have had the same problem but do not see any solutions posted yet, mind there were a lot of hits and I didn't read them all.)

Thanks
-Peter

Hi paw9000,

Have checked the options LCD Manager for the G15? There is a "Rotate Between Programs - In Seconds" option that is device specific. This option may be enabled and set to 1 for your G15.

The configuration software that comes with the Logitech G15 does not include an option to switch between apps on an interval. The "Logitech LCD Manager" that 3dconnexion installs does have the option you mention but I checked and for the G15 keyboard it is set to "Manual - Use Device Controls to Switch".

In the process of verifying this I started messing around with the options under the "Programs" tab of the "Logitech LCD Manager". I tried disabling all 3dconnexion check boxes, then for each program I manually unchecked "Allow Program to Force itself to Foreground on Display". This changed the frequency that the apps switch. Now the Clock and Performance monitor each show up for about .5 seconds and it switches between them every .5 seconds as well. very annoying.

If I uncheck both the clock and the performance monitor from the Logitech G15 list, then you see the Logitech LCD screen saver on the G15 but its still flashing with something else, its really fast hard to tell but I think its date/time, but its in a different position then the standard clock app.

Ok the bug seems to have something to do with LCDClock.exe. If I use taskmanager to kill that process I dont see any more flashing. Odd that the description under task manager says "Logitech LCD Clock/Performance Monitor" so the same process runs both? Seems like there is some sort of connection there. I mean Im flashing between both and they both exist in the same process where as, as far as I can tell, all other LCD apps seem to be stand alone. I'm not sure if this is a viable soltuion as both the G15 and the space pilot seem to show their logo when I kill that process. Re-run it and things seem to start working again.

If I remember correctly, I think it does (the same program displays both panels). Try checking the programs properties to see if there is a settings that prevents it from switching to the foreground.

The LCDClock.exe is a program incldued in the G15 software.

I have the same problem and paw9000's solution seems to work somehow.
