driver missing on Win8

I have tried to install the drivers on Win8 but they are not working. The install process works but it looks like the driver is not loaded correctly. Windows recognises the mouse (can see it in the device manager) but the 3dconnexion software says that I need to load the driver....Has anyone seen or solved this issue?

What version of 3DxSoftware do you have installed? Also, do you have both devices connected to the machine?

I have the most recent version of the software 3.16.1 - 64bit, only one device was connected at a time.

I think this is the first time we have such a report. I'd like us to verify it.

Can you give us more details on the same error message and at what point it is shown?

Also, once you have seen the error, send us the driver log: go to "%APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare", file "3DxWare.log". Normally, the full path is C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\3DxWare.log".

You can send the log to me on a private message (PM).

Thanks for the information provided on the PM, bmanners.

The log files 3DxService.log and 3DxConfig.log are left overs from 3DxWare 10 Beta that you probably had installed at some point. You may delete these two files.

For the driver included in 3DxSoftware, we need the 3DxWare.log. I neglected to mentioned that logging must be first enable before it is created. To do this, open the 3Dconnexion Control Panel and enable the "Write Log File" option in the menu "Tools".

Yeah I did install the 3Dxware 10 Beta hoping it might fix this issue.I have since uninstalled it as it didn't solve the problem. It did give me an error message about the service not running and I checked to see if there was a 3dconnxion type service there but there wasnt.

The 3Dconnxion Control Panel does not load when I click the "start" menu shortcut. I can load the 3d Mouse home application but the properties button does nothing:-(

Hi mbanners,

Did you manage to generate the 3DxWare.log file? I would like to have a look at that.

One think you can try is to connect the device to a different port and reboot the machine. The properties panel only comes up if the driver can find a connected device.

One additional step is to unplug the device, hold down both buttons. Continue holding down the buttons and plug in the device. wait 15 seconds and release the buttons.
Next start the driver and open up the 3dmouse home then retry properties if it opens the driver is running and the device should be detected.

Got it.

Looks like there must be a conflict with the ******** 3D mouse (http://www.***********.com). Once I unplugged that it started working.
