Windows slows down after installing 3Dconnexion SW

Hello,

I received my Space Mouse PRO and was very excited to start the Trainer program. However, installing the device was more challenging than expected and even jeopardized my entire Windows.

Following the instructions:
(1) I plugged the device into my Laptop, and Windows found and installed the drivers;
(2) Downloaded and installed the latest SW from 3dconnexion.com for my device.
(3) Started the 3dconnexion SW and then started the Trainer.
(4) The 3D-mouse worked well at the start - but after a few minutes, the Trainer stopped responding...

This also lead to my entire Windows being unrecognizably slow. I had a hard time starting the Task-Manager to stop the 3dconnexion SW and drivers: Nothing was responding for minutes! After a restart, the same thing - incredibly slow response times, despite the fact that 3Dconnexion SW was chosen not to start at windows-boot (and was not in the list of processes in the Task Manager).

The only thing that returned windows to normal speed was stopping the Service "clr_optimization_v4.0.30319_32" (Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN v4.0.30319_V86) in the Task-Manager (after an hour of waiting due to slow response time). Only then I could uninstall the 3Dconnexion SW and return my Windows back to normal.

Downloading the SW and re-installing it did not resolve the issue.

Fujitsu Lifebook E-Series
Intel Core Duo P8600 2,4MHz
4GB RAM
Windows 7 (32bit) SP1
On-board graphics adapter: Intel 4 series express

Hi HLA13,

The 3Dconnexion software includes program that depend on the .NET Framework (CLR). During the installation, a request is made to the framework (ngen) to optimise the operation of these programs.

You should expect to see ngen taking a few minutes to execute the opeation but it should not stop you from using the system. In your particular case, several of these requests may have accumulated and the 3Dconnexion software installer may have triggered what ended up being a rather lengthy process.

I recommend that you try reinstall the 3Dconnexion software and let the system sit for awhile until the ngen tool has finished.
