3DC Space Explorer USB + PTC WF5 Creo Elements

Post by GMroczka »

Hello all,

We have purchased the 3D Connection Space Explorers for you Designers to get more juice out of them, Catia works fine, but with PTC ProE Wilfire 5 Creo Elements we seem to be running into a dead end.
When the device (the 3D Device) is pluged into the PC (Dell Precision M4500 / M4600 / T3500 -all are affected) Windows 7 64 bit system, after a few operations the right mouse button hollding get tweaky.
When you push the right button to get the quick menu it shows up, but when you try tu put the mouse (regular mouse) cursor over any item from that menu it disapears before you can select anything. If you pass the background box frame it goes away. We went trough deep troubleshooting with PTC and found out that when you unplug the 3D Explorer it goes away.
We tried 3 different 64 bit 3D device drivers including the up-most-current v3-16-2_r1356; older 3.15.2.r1219 - no can do.
Do you maybe have some idea of a workarround or a driver set that seemed to work ?

Hello GMroczka,

what standard mouse are you using on these machines? Did you install additional software for it?

Does the problem dissappear if you just unplug the SpaceExplorer or when you stop the driver?

Please try the following situation:
1. 3D mouse driver is running, but SpaceExplorer was unplugged
2. SpaceExplorer is pluuged into the machine, but no 3D mouse driver is running

Do you still experience the same problem with the right mouse button?

Thank you for the response.

In both cases the problem stops to occur.
If the device's USB plug is physically removed from the USB port, or the 3DConnection driver is switched off.

Mouse is a standard Dell MS111 3BTN with default windows drivers.

Hi GMroczka,
If the device's USB plug is physically removed from the USB port, or the 3DConnection driver is switched off.
Perhaps your 3D mouse is continuously sending data.

Put your 3D mouse on a flat surface, open the "3Dconnexion Properties" panel and press on the "Calibrate" button in the 'Device configuration" tab. Do not touch the 3D mouse sensor cap during this process.

Hallo Zusammen,

Also Problem mit rechte Maustastatur an "regular Mouse",
