A problem cropped up a few days ago using a SpacePilot Pro with SolidWorks on Win7 (all 64 bit). When navigating with the puck, the model image would fly away suddenly in a seemingly random direction, retrievable only with the SW Zoom to Fit button. The problem seemed to get progressively worse over a few days, mostly affecting the Pan/Zoom function, which I switched off using the 3Dcontrol add-in menu item. I checked for software upgrades this morning and installed the latest available package , including the SW add-in (2.23.1.8697); no joy. After further investigation, I found that the problem seems to be dependent on the model involved; single parts move smoothly, while a 3-part assembly will suddenly move miles away at the slightest touch of the puck (but not always!). An assembly with dozens of parts is impossible to control. When rotating with the puck (Pan/Zoom unchecked), the model will suddenly translate vertically several times its own length. I slowed the overall speed down to minimum and was able to see the translation happen twice per orbit in opposite directions at orientations 180 degrees apart. View positioning with the mouse works fine in all 6 axes. And, this all started a few days ago! As far as I can tell, everything worked OK before then. PC is a Dell Precision 5500, Xeon CPU, 6 cores, 12GB: plenty of horsepower. Reboots don't help. Any ideas, anyone?

This kind of problem can happen if there is some data corruption in a custom profile or registry key. The first step to try is removing the custom profiles.
Type %appdata%\3dconnexion\3dxware\profiles into the address field of Windows Explorer window. Delete all of the .scg files in the \profiles folder then re-open SolidWorks. You will be back at the default Solidworks settings - that corrects most navigation issues.
If you're still seeing a problem you can use the clean install steps to remove 3Dconnexion profiles and registry keys and do a fresh install of the 3Dconnexion software.
