Hello 3Dconnexion,
It is necessary to run 3ds max as an administrator if you are doing distributed rendering. On my Windows 8 x64 machine when I run both 3ds max 2010 and 2013 as an administrator the 3Dware driver is unable to latch onto max so to speak and as such the 3D mouse is unable to alter the viewport or do pretty much anything.
I quick check shows that I am running ...
Release Version: 3.16.3
Driver Version: 6.16.1
Firmware Version: 4.04
Device Type: Space Navigator (up to date)
Windows Info: Windows 8 Pro x64 (fully updates)
Again I can confirm that the issue is only present when 3ds max is running in an elevated mode.
Thanks in advance for looking into this, you guys are great. I'm really not annoyed, I just wanted to bring this up so it can be fixed. Thanks! -Cody

If you have to run 3DSmax as an administrator.
Then install our driver with the same privileges.
Go to your startup folder and right click on Start 3DxWare, select Properties,
Choose Compatibilty at the bottom select run as admin.
Stop our driver then restart. open your application.
or you can uninstall our driver locate the download and right click choose run as administrator
