Softimage 2012, camera movements Incorrect and Ineffective

Post by Shimvu »

I am using a SpaceNavigator, with Windows 7 (64 bit) and Softimage 2012 (32 bit), and although the SpaceNavigator is working perfectly in 3dsMax, Softimage 2012 is all but useless for me.

I have made a video, uploaded to youtube, showing examples, with comments, please see this, as I think it best explains the problems I have: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEutI0pyLmc

In brief, the camera rotate on object, will only work, if I 'move center to vertices' and only then, when I am in 'object' mode (which means I have no workflow, and SpaceNavigator is limited at best)
The camera tracking and panning is PAINFULLY slow.

I did send a form into technical support, however, the best solution was to reinstall a fresh, clean copy of the drivers, which I did, giving me the same results.
On a side note, I am also unable to make it work for my installation of photoshop cs2 (32 bit)

Thank you, I should mention that I am also currently in email consultation with Thomas Vilport.

Also, in regards to my camera movements inside softimage, I managed to get much better camera track and pan, by scaling my scene down to .1
I suspect that the maximum movement of the mouse for track and pan, does not allow for large models?

Additional note:
The 3DxPhotoshop plug-in in the current software works in PhotoshopCS3, CS4,CS5 and CS6.
CS2 is no longer supported.
