SpaceNavigator Not Recognizing SolidWorks 2011

Post by alan_coons »

We recently purchased 2 SpaceNavigators and one of the systems is not recognizing SolidWorks 2011. Both systems are running SolidWorks 2011 x64 edition on Windows 7 Professional 64 bit operating system with service pack 1. One of the systems is a Dell XPS studio with a standard USB keyboard and mouse and the other is an IBM Thinkpad. We have tried installing the updated driver multiple times, rebooting multiple times, starting/stopping the driver and no success.

In SolidWorks ,check Tools|Addins to verify 3DControl is there and checked to launch at startup.

If not, you can install the add-in manually with the following steps: In SolidWorks 2011 on a 64-bit PC Click File |Open Search ‘All files types’ Browse to the 3Dconnexion plug-in folder [ default location in C:|Program Files|3Dconnexion|3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware|3DxSolidWorks64 ] and select TDxSW64.DLL

For a 32-bit PC the folder is C:|Program Files|3Dconnexion|3Dconnexion 3DxSoftware|3DxSolidWorks32] and the add-in file is TDxSW32.DLL .

This will launch the plug-in 3DMouseNews window and enable the plug-in.

Thanks for the response Fred. We confirmed that the add-in is loaded. We tried unloading and then reloading with no change. We also tried manually loading and could not get a response.

1.With SolidWorks closed , stop the driver [Start, All Programs, 3Dconnexion, Driver, Stop Driver], then locate 'Start 3DxWare' in your Startup folder.

2.Right-click 'Start 3DxWare' - Select Properties , then Compatibility and check only 'Run as administrator' .[Start, All Programs, Startup| Start 3DxWare]

3.Restart SolidWorks and check that navigation is available.
