Win 7 64 Bot Driver Install Issue

Post by issaacrumel01 »

Hello, I have looked through the forums on this topic for an answer and still see folks having issues. I purchased a new SpaceNavigator 3d mouse. Instead of using the included cd I downloaded the latest drivers and attempted to install as advised. The program runs, extracts files and then stops. No error code or anything. The device is recognized by windows and lights up, but the driver clearly is not installed as device manager states windows is the driver. If there is any solution I would love to hear it as I was excited to use this new piece of hardware. If I cannot find a solution I will have to return. Thanks for any suggestions.

Check if the "Microsoft .NET Framework" system feature is enabled: open the Control Panel and go to the "Uninstall or change a program", click "Turn Windows features on or off" on the panel's left-hand side and confirm if the .NET option is enabled. If it is enabled, try cycling it: disable the option, reboot, re-enable the option, reboot. After that, run the 3Dconnexion installer again and it should be able to complete.

unfortunately this did not work either. Same issue. Starts extraction process but doesn't seem to do anything else and then quits. Still no mouse functionality. Lights up, but doesn't work in Google Earth (and I have enabled alternate mouse in options). Any other suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Click start,
Type UAC in search field
click search
You'll get the UAC control panel.
Turn OFF UAC
click OK.
Now try installing and see if it finishes.
If it does then go back and turn the UAC back on.

Got it to work after finding info on the Universal Extrator program. The driver self installer just doesn't work. Finally got the files on my desktop and installed the 3DxSoftware data in the x64 folder. A bit convoluted, but at least it is up now. Thanks!
