3DS MAX 2014

I am having an issue with my SpaceExplorer in 3DS MAX 2014. The Spin & Roll axes on the mouse do the same action in the software, they both roll. However the roll axes does the rolling at a much slower rate. I cannot spin at all in MAX 2104. The axes work fine in Inventor 2014.

What gives?

are you in Object Mode or Camera Mode or Target Camera Mode?
There is an option "Lock Horizon". Is it activated?
