I have this problem too. Inventor 2013, new wireless SpaceMouse with latest software downloaded a few days ago. In Inventor, the SpaceMouse works sometimes, then stops re-orienting the model, but the buttons still work. (Mapped to Home View, and Look At commands.) The SpaceMouse works fine using the puzzle demo. Just not reliably with Inventor, which is all I need it for. What can I do?

The delay in Inventor is a known issue (bug #6553). Our developers are currently working on this with Autocad.

This bug also applies to Inventor 2012. Part sometimes rotates slightly and then just stops.
Very frustrating...

Hi,

we released a new version of 3DxWare 10 (= version 10.0.20), which includes the fix for this issue. Please download the new version and let us know your feedback.

Thanks!

Hi,

I recently reinstalled my pc and upgraded from inventor 2013 to 2014. Now every time I work with inventor it has the same glitch described here. It only happens when I have multiple windows open in inventor. At first I can move freely until I use a function ( like measure distance ) than it stops. After that I have to drag the drawing in some direction with my normal mouse. Or just click on it. Afterwards my 3d mouse works again.

I did a clean install and reinstalled the latest 3dx driver.
Unloaded the inventor plug-in
Created an exception in my antivirus
I also used different usb ports

Windows 7 64bit
Inventor 2014
Spacepilot

I hope I described it well enough and I am sorry for my crappy English.

Hello don_k,

you mentioned that you unloaded the plugin for Inventor (3DxInventor). This is already a helpful piece of information. The plugin provides the button mapping in Inventor. The navigation with the 3D mouse was implemented by the manufacturer aof Inventor, by Autodesk. Please report this issue to Autodesk. They are the right contact for improvment here. Let us know when you have news. Thanks.

Hello don_k -

In case this is helpful to you, there was a description of an issue in Inventor very similar to what you are seeing. Navigation was working until using an action like measurement or applying constraints. At that point the focus changed to the input dialogue for the particular function and the 3d device did not control the model until the input focus was changed again with the standard mouse.

The issue was resolved by changing the driver for the standard mouse. A Logitech mouse was being used but the software for it - Logitech SetPoint - was not. Once the Logitech SetPoint driver was installe, the issue with the focus in Inventor went away. Try installing or updating the correct driver for the 2d mouse you are using - hopefully you will have the same results.

Hello Barbara,

Thanks for the reply. I am also using a Logitech mouse. I installed the correct driver but it still had these glitches. Then I unloaded the inventor plug-in and now it works flawless. The only downside is that all the 3dmouse buttons stop working. But I can live with that. I will report this issue to Autodesk like UtaSH mentioned so they can hopefully fix it.

Thanks for your help

Hello don_k,

sorry if I made myself not clear. The navigation with the 3D mouse in Inventor was implemented by Autodesk, but the addin "3DxInventor" is provided by 3Dconnexion. So if you are using Inventor without the plugin and have problems only then you should report the issue to Autodesk. But from your last post is sounds as if you do not have problems any more after you unloaded the plugin. Then the issue seem to be related to the addin software. Which driver do you have installed? You are using a SpacePilot, right? The SpacePilot is end-of-life since a year.

You still have the possibilities to map keyboard shortcut to the buttons of your 3D mouse. This can be done in the driver panel (3Dconnexion properties) and you will find more information how to do it in the help file.

I have a problem very similar to what don_k described. Everything worked fine for a week using my wireless 3D mouse in Autodesk Inventor 2014 SP1, but one night the 3d mouse stopped working altogether, the blue LED lights would come on briefly then fade out. I tried using it in wireless mode, wired mode, reinstalled the driver, swapped out the USB cord. Can't be sure if anything I did helped or not, but it randomly started working again for several hours and now I have the problem with it working until a heads up prompt displays within Inventor, which immediately freezes the 3d mouse until I do something with my 2d mouse to cause the little pop-up menu/message to disappear and then the 3d mouse works as normal. Incidentally, my wireless mode is super jittery and my battery only lasts for a few hours of use. A little off topic, but maybe I have a defective 3d mouse. I just bought it 1 week ago. I have not tried to disable/remove the Inventor plug-in. My 2D mouse is a Razor and I have the latest drivers installed for it.

Device: Space Mouse Wireless
Driver: 3DxWare 10 version 10.0.22
3DxWinCore version 17.0.32
Firmware v. 4.37
OS: Windows 8.1 Pro
Problem Software: Autodesk Inventor 2014 Pro

I just upgraded to Inventor 2014 Pro. All Drivers are up to date. Spacepilot still not working correct.
It seems even worse than in IV2012!
Can someone from 3Dconnexion tell me, if there is a solution in sight?

If not I will disconnect the Spacepilot and work with keyboard again...
and I'm done with 3DConnexion.

Sorry these harsh words, but I paid for the device and I'm waiting since month for a solution!

Hello ozymandias,

you should have at least 3DxSoftware 3.17.8 installed which is the latest driver for the SpaceMouse Pro. Or even 3DxWare 10.0.22 which is the latest driver for the SpaceMouse Wireless or the SpaceNavigator. Do you have one of these drivers installed?
