Snap View in NX8

Hello All,

I've been struggling with this issue for the past 2-3 3d connexion devices that I've owned and never gotten it right, and I figure its time to ask the people who really know.

How in god's name do I get the 'Snap view' function to work with my spacepilot pro buttom mapping? I have tried setting the function in the external 3d connexion software, and it even says 'snap view' on the LCD screen when I press the button. No luck. I have tried setting it in the 3d connexion-NX internal button mapping editor. No luck. I have also tried making a custom "F8" macro function internally and externally to force an F8 keypress. Still nothing. I am at my wits end and could use a hand. I am sure this topic has been covered because I've read many threads on it, but I still haven't been able to get it to work myself.

Hello Dominic -

The SnapView command in the 'View Shortcut Menu' category in the 3DxNX editor is the one that works.

This NX faq describes why keyboard macros are not able to generate commands in NX if the Windows UAC is turned on.

The SnapView in the '3DxWare' category is simulated by the driver/plugin (F8) and this mechanism is not working with the Windows UAC.

Try mapping SnapView only from View Shortcut Menu in the 3DxNX editor in the current driver and you should see it working.

Is this "view shortcut menu" category under "command categories"? I seem to be having trouble finding it.

I found it!! it was under the Help>online technical support category. "snap view" was in there and when I dragged it over to the button mapping editor it worked beautifully. thanks!!
