I tried the instructions to remove 3DXSoftware 3.17.004 manually, Looking for and deleted every reference I could find. This Driver simply will NOT die, and the installers always refer to it and tell me it must be uninstalled first. The uninstaller asks for the "disk" and this version of the Driver is unavailable in the archives, Tried installing 3.16.3 is but will not install due to 3.17 being a newer version.
So does anyone have 3.17.004?
Driver version 3.17.004 blocking new version.

Hello Jayfeather980 -
The 'Insert disk 1 ' error happens when the previous driver either was not saved on the local PC or its uninstall information has since been lost. To fix the problem, a registry key which informs the PC how the software has previously been installed must be deleted.
To open the Registry Editor, click on Start > Run and type in regedit.
If you do not have appropriate permissions to modify the registry, request the changes by made by an IT tech. Making a registry backup is recommended before making changes to the registry.
The 3Dconnexion product keys which must be removed are located in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|Installer|Products
Products are identified by highlighting the the registry key name in the left column then looking at "Product Name" in the right column. Each 3Dconnexion component has its own product key. For example the product name for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT|Installer|Products|C63433EA99E558E469D257DC8FCC6B1A is 3Dconnexion Add-In for SolidWorks. Highlight the product keys one at a time then look at the Product Name to see whether it is a 3Dconnexion product key.
Locate each of the 3Dconnexion product keys in the left column then right-click and choose Delete. Close the Registry Editor.
Check C:|Program Files and delete the 3Dconnexion folder if it is still present.
Reboot the PC then you should be able to install the current driver without errors.
