Is the navigation with the SpacePilot in Inventor glitchy or does it not work at all?

It might help if you creat an exception in your antivirus software for the driver (3dxsrv.exe).

I created an exception in Antivirus. Also I tried to turn off the Antivirus for severel minutes.
Nothing changed!

When I navigate with the Spacpilot, the Object I try to spin is sluggish, until to complete stoppage!
Spinning with the free orbit works absolutely fine ...

When I hit the bottom of the screen (outside) Inventor and the Inventor Window isnt active, it works well too.

Please try the following:
  • Stop the driver and stop Inventor.
  • Open the control panel of Windows and go to "Programs and Features".
  • Select the entry for the 3D mouse driver and then "Change".
  • In the list with the plugins please unselect "3Dconnexion Add-In for Inventor" and finish the installation.
  • Restart the driver and restart Inventor.
Let me know if you still have the same problems with the navigation.

Done that!
First it's been better with only little lags, but after working half a day and when opened a larger Assembly it happens again.
At the moment its not possible to spin at all. Free orbit works fine and smoothly!

Hi ozymandias,

I hate to do that, but now I have to refer you to the support of Autodesk. You still have the issue even if the addin 3DxInventor is not installed. The navigation with the 3D mouse in Inventor was implemented into Inventor by Autodesk. The driver just provides the data and Inventor processes the data. In case we can assist we will of course. Let me know if you find a solution or if we can provide any further information to the support of Inventor.

Hi ozymandias and bigfilsing,

please have the driver create a log file and send it to me. I will let you know the email address in a PM.

To get a log file of the driver please proceed as follows:
  • Activate the entry "Write Log File" in the driver panel (3Dconnexion properties) under "Tools".
  • Stop the driver and stop Inventor.
  • Restart the driver (Start -> All Programs -> 3Dconnexion -> Driver -> Start/Stop Driver) and restart Inventor.
  • Reproduce the issue.
  • Go to the folder %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare immediately, save the file 3DxWare.log to another location and send it to us.

Hi UtaSH,

Same problem here, so frustrating - only happens with 2 or more tabs open on Inventor 2014 during constraints or measure, tried all suggestions so far with no fix.
Can you PM me so I can send you a log file.

Thanks

sad to say my problems , even with a fresh install of Inventor 2015. are back again.

It just seems to stick. If i maintain pressure on the 3D mouse AND use the keyboard to orbit it kind of jumps back into life until the next orbit or pan.
Such a frustrating experience ive done away with the 3D mouse and am back to keyboard shortcuts. Not as easy of course but at least reliable.

Hi UtaSH,

Looking back on this topic, it is not the same issue - don_k posts?
I have all the latest drivers installed including the set point software for the Logitech wireless mouse (as previous posts) and still getting the issue. The laptop has been rebuilt with fresh installs as well...

Can you confirm if this is a 3Dconnexion or AutoDesk issue?

Hello rexroth99,

if you encounter the problem from the post that I have linked to then this is our internal bug number #6629 ("Navigation in Inventor is blocked if two files open and the graphic window doesn't have the focus").

Do you have 3DxWare 10.0.22 installed?

Can you confirm that the navigation is enabled again if you click with the standard mouse in the graphical window?

If this is the case then the action is on 3Dconnexion's side. We will have a fix for this problem in our next release. In the meantime you could install 3DxSoftware 3.17.8 (the driver for the SpaceMouse Pro) which supports the SpaceNavigator, too, but does not provide the Radial Menus.

Im still following this thread
In the mean time i did some experimenting at the weekend and now it seems to work
I have installed driver 3.17.8 and at least it is usable again.
Doesn't work at all in 3Dmax when Inventor is running as well
Opened multiple tabs in Inventor with some complicated models and it switched windows fine

Inventor 2015 design suite
3D max design 2015
