Spacepilot button assignments lost or 'Unavailable'

Post by LesB »

HI,

I have a perfectly usable but admittedly old Space Pilot. I'm using it with SolidWorks 2014 on a Win 7 Pro 64Bit PC. However, it states that the button assignments for many buttons are 'Unavailable'. If I change them as desired, and in particular the keys I reassign are the 'fit' and Ctrl' keys, it's fine for a while but sometime later the keys default back to not working.

I'm using the latest driver so what can I do?

Hello LesB,

which driver do you have installed? I recommend to use 3DxWare 10.1.0, the latest driver for the SpaceMouse Pro or 3DxSoftware 3.17.8 which is available for the SpaceMouse Pro, too if you tick the box for "Also show archived software".

Hi,

This is what I have:

DEVICE TYPE: Space Pilot

RELEASE VERSION; 3.16.3

DRIVER VERSION: 6.16.1

FIRMWARE VERSION: 3.12

Do your driver recommendations still stand?

Yes, they do. :-)

The last official driver is the one you have, but the latest versions support your device, too. (Just not officially ;)). Give it a try.

UPDATE: I tried the 3DxWare 10.1.0 and it has done the trick. Seems to work perfectly.

Many thanks UtaSH.
