Hello!
i dont seem to be able to change the settings properly in the latest version.
to reproduce:
-open Autocad,
-access the spacemouse control panel
-hit advanced settings
-put everything in reverse (note that zoom direction has been lost)
-put zoom direction to "up/down" (note that most of the checks have been removed!)
if you put them back in then you lose zoom direction..
can this be fixed?
thanks!

Hello frigothermferrari -
The axis options in the 3DxWare 10 driver behave differently than in the 3DxSoftware driver versions.
In the 3DxSoftware driver the Spin and Roll axis directions are swapped when changing the Zoom direction. Rather than reversing the movement on the axis, the Spin axis is swapped for the Roll axis when the opposite zoom direction is selected.
The 3DxSoftware zoom directions correspond to two different ways of looking at 3D objects - "Desktop Mode" which assumes the bottom of the device is on the desktop plane and "Screen Mode" which assumes the device bottom is on your screen plane. Changing from one mode to the other swaps the Spin and Roll axis directions accordingly.
In response to customer feedback, in the 3DxWare driver the "Desktop Mode" and "Screen Mode" distiction is no longer used. You can change the zoom direction without having Spin swap with Roll.
While the supported options in the 3DxWare driver are those available in the GUI, advanced users are free to edit their custom profiles as described this forum thread .
If you prefer the opposite behavior, 3DxSoftware V3.18.0 is available in the Legacy section of the driver downloads page.

Re: Bug in control panel
hello Barbara..
thanks for your reply..
not sure i understand what has changed since the last version.. but here is what i think:
I have been a computer player for many years in the past. In computer games you are inside the bad guy and run around as if you were looking out of his eyes.so fi you go forward you go near an object, if you go back you get away, and same for left right.
When i am working i like my spacemouse to behave the same way. so I do not use the spacemouse to rotate the object, but instead i use it to move myself around the object. (not sure you get what i mean.)
In order to move myself around the object i have to invert all axes. (in the old version of the dirver) and set the zoom in desktop mode. (pushing the nob towards the table zooms in, lifting it zooms out)
Does it mean that to have this i have to manually edit the profiles?
Wouldnt it be possible to add a new mode to the tow you have in the program for example called 1st person mode that is essentially desktop mode with all axis inversed? or at least allow to invert the axes manually without automatically unselecting the "desktop mode" checkbox? It is somewhat strange that a newer version has less setup possibility than a old version..
thanks!
best regards
Igor

Hello frigothermferrari -
The 3DxWare driver isn't a newer version or update of the 3DxSoftware driver - it's an entirley different piece of software. There are a number differences in the two driver types aside from the axis behavior. The 3DxWare driver uses .xml profiles and the 3DxSoftware driver uses an .scg text format for profiles.
3DxWare auto-starts when the device is detected - 3DxSoftware is an executable program started by Windows or started manually with the 'Start Driver' shortcut. 3DxWare has radial menus that allow four commands to be mapped to each button and it allows navigation in Web browsers and Microsoft Office.
With the .xml format of the 3DxWare driver there are functions that can be added that were not possible in 3DxSoftware. New features are added to the GUI as they tested and determined to be reliable and useful. Feedback from customers also helps determine which features are important - so we appreciate knowing what you would like to see.
If you do not want to edit the 3DxWare profiles but prefer the 3DxSoftware axis behavior, you can use the updated version of the 3DxSoftware driver - V3.18.0 - from the legacy drivers page.
