Windows lock-up

Post by davearcher »

Hi all,

I purchased a new Space navigator 3DX-700028 two weeks ago.

Using it with Solidworks 2012 and Google Earth.
Now that I have it set up with both programs it is working perfectly and I am very happy with it !

A little problem I have is that if I leave the Space Navigator USB cable plugged in, the computer fails to boot up.
I have a completely black screen, with just a small white line as the cursor position, it stays on, does not blink.

If I unplug the Space Navigator and re-boot, computer works fine, I then plug the USB cable back in and everything works fine from then on.
I have now become used to unplugging the USB before I start up the computer, but I just wondered if anyone else has the same problem.

Windows 7 Professional 64 bit 16 GB ram. AMD Phenom II 4 core 365 3.4 Ghz.

Hello davearcher -

There are motherboards that have a different startup sequence than some versions of the firmware expect. This is usually solved by updating the firmware for the Space Navigator.

The firmware updates are provided individually by our Technical Support. There is contact information for Technical Support here.

Let them know the Space Navigator PID# from the tag attached to the cable and that a firmware update has been recommended in the forum. They will check that the PID# is in the correct range for a firmware update.
