Having some trouble with the 3dxTrainer...

Post by ZachimusPrime »

Greetings!

I am having some issues getting the 3dxTrainer application to work in our environment.

We are Windows 7 x64 across the board. In a nutshell, this is what transpires:

1. Open 3dHome.
2. Launch Trainer.
3. Nothing happens. Go into Task Manager.
4. Launch Trainer with Task Manager open, 3dxTrainer.exe process starts, then stops after a few seconds.

I searched around and I noticed that .NET Framework 3.5.1 needs to be installed. It is installed on all of our PC's in our environment as part of the image that we use for new PC's. (Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn WIndows Features on or off).

I went into the Event Viewer and I am seeing two errors for every attempt to launch 3dxTrainer: Application Error, Event ID 1000, and .NET Runtime error Event ID 1026. Both of those are pretty generic errors.

I've attached a copy of one of each type of error. Let me know if there is any more additional information needed.

Just to be clear: Everything else is working great!

Thanks!

Hello ZachimusPrime,

sorry for the delay. It seems that on your machine .NET is not installed properly. First step try enabling it as described here.

Another user could solve a problem with .NET with this process: : uninstall 3DxWare, uninstall .Net, reboot, re-install .Net, re-install 3DxWare.

Let me know if you could solve the problem.

I just joined up as I am having a similar problem.. Just bought a "Space Navigator" and donwloaded the latest drivers and all was well (Windows 7 x64).

I was then going through the "demos" and found that the "3dx Trainer" stops working when its launched.. I get a popup saying that "3DxTrainer.exe Has Stopped Working" and then I can check for a solution or close.

I removed and reinstalled the drivers and its the same... I also looked at my .NET setup and have 3.5.1 and 4.5 installed..

I tried to look at the link posted above but it says "You are not authorized to read this forum."..

Any ideas?

Hello jweaver,

this is the post that I linked to:
The problem somehow has disappeared.
- uninstalled 3dxware to perform the installation in the same order (.Net 4.5.2 first, then 3dxware)
- installed .Net 4.5.2
- reinstalled 3dxware -> no errors
Does that help? (I have no idea why you shouldn't be able to see the post as it is available to the public.

Have you installed our latest release - 3DxWare 10.2.0?

Yep.. Got 10.2 from the download link on your site..

Tried those exact steps.. I removed 3DXWare.. Then .NET.

Then I reinstalled .NET followed by the 3DXware.. And everything works other than the Trainer.
