radial menus+3ds max issue
Hello,
I have been using my spacemouse wireless for a little while without many issues. Today I saw a video on using radial menus and gave it a go. The radial menu appears when I click the assigned button, the menu area I hover over changes color, but when I click I am getting nothing.
thanks for any help
Todd

Re: radial menus+3ds max issue
just updated driver, same issue, from the RM the only assigned function that is working is bevel settings, others remain unresponsive.

Hi Todd,
do you have problems with the predefined Radial Menus or with one that you created your own.
Do you have problems with all commands on a Radial Menu or just some commands?
Do the commands that cause issues from within the Radial Menu work if you map them directly to a button of the 3D mouse?

Re: radial menus+3ds max issue
thanks for the quick response!
I tried the "views" radial menu, and it worked fine.
Not all commands, of the 4 I assigned only 1 worked properly.
I just assigned 1 of the commands that wasn't working in the RM, and it worked when assigned to a button.

Which one is not working in the Radial Menu?
Which application do you work with?

Working in 3ds Max 2015,
Chamfer settings, extrude settings, bridges settings arent working, Bevel settings did work from the radial, it was the only 1 of the 4 that worked.
thanks!

Re: radial menus+3ds max issue
Sorry, I am not very good with 3dsmax and I don't know how to create a scenario where I would need one of those commands. Have you checked if the commands work if you invoke them via the menu or toolbar in 3dsmax?

Re: radial menus+3ds max issue
These functions are commonly used for modeling, they work fine within the application(i use them often), I was hoping to access from the spacemouse so I do not need to keep moving my hand from the spacemouse to the keyboard.
chamfer settings would be used on an edge selection
extrude would be used on a polygon selection
bridge would be used on a selection of 1 or more edges
Bevel on edge selection
these would all need to be in editable poly mode to function.

Re: radial menus+3ds max issue
Is this the type of response that can be expected when having an issue with the device? I dont mean any disrespect, but for this device to be a viable addition to my workflow, some of this functionality is required as moving my hand from the spacemouse to the keyboard kind of defeats the purpose and actually slows workflow rather than speeding it up. I do realize that there are versions of this device with more buttons, but for the time being I am hoping to evaluate the experience based on what I purchased.
If this is something that cant be fixed that is fine, but I would like to receive some sort of response instead of silence.

Totally disappointed and disatisfied in the support,,, actually the lack there of in regards to this issue. Having to move my hand from the spacemouse to the keyboard is not what I want to be doing. Right now it feels like I purchased a paperweight rather than an input device.

Re: radial menus+3ds max issue
Just visting this site to see of there have been any improvements since my last post. I have a long list of gripes with this product, I use it sparingly and would not recommend it to anyone that asks.
My issues from my initial post over 3 years ago still exist. So that tells me that whoever works on the drivers has little regard for 3ds max, and/or that the person replying to the posts in this forum doesn't effectively convey to the development team the issues that I and other max users are having.
While I appreciate the responder to my posts may have limited 3ds max skills, I do not accept a company selling me a piece of hardware and not having someone who is familiar with the software and able to push forward the development of drivers as well as addressing issues.
I am terribly and totally disappointed in this expensive paperweigtht that is sitting on my desk.
If you arent going to truly support a piece of software you should remove it from your list of supported applications. I feel rooked and dont think it is fair that you will continue to take money from max users hoping to buy a product that will improve their workflow.
How about some sort of response does anyone @ 3dconnexion care about customer satisfaction??
