Lose 3d control after internet connection disconnected

Post by mikejclark »

Hello community,
I'm using a space navigator (sn) with catia v5 r19.
I have no problems using the sn if it is plugged in when catia is started, but if I plug it in after catia has started, it doesn't work.
Driver stop/start does nothing.
You might be wondering why I don't just restart catia? The answer is because I am connected over a VPN with an environment, and start times are extremely slow.
So, is there a way I can enable the sn after catia is already started?

Hi mikejclark,

the problem is that Catia has to prepare for the 3D mouse. It connects to the driver and checks which device is connected and if no device is available then Catia assumes that no 3D mouse support is needed. :( Sorry, I don't have a solution for you.

Hi uta
Thanks for the reply. The same thing also happens if I disconnect from the network. So I can be using the mouse, then if my VPN connection drops, the mouse stops working. Is there a solution to this?
Many thanks
Mike

Hello Mike,

sorry, but I don't yet understand your connection. Are you working remotely with the 3D mouse? Which remote tool do you use? How is the setup? (Where is the 3D mouse connected? Where is the driver running? ...)

I can only tell you that you do not necessarily need a connection to the internet to be able to work with the 3D mouse in Catia.
