SolidWorks "s" key again

Post by behnt »

I must be missing something and or the software update I have does not follow any of the other forum posts.

THIS IS HUGELY FRUSTRATING FOR ME!

How the heck do I map the "s" key to a button? I cannot for the life of me find out where this elusive assigning macro / assiging custom functions here http://www.3dconnexion.com/index.php?id ... red=faq/60 or.....

So how does one map the 's' key to a button?

UPDATE:
Work around (note I am not 100% sure I like this yet but i could see liking it in the future)

-Open SW and the file type you are trying to map buttons to and then go to the step below (This must be done for this to work)
-Open 3D connexion properties
-Choose 'Buttons'
-Beside the button you want to map choose the drop down
-Choose 'Radial menus'
-Choose 'New Radial Menu' (note you can go back and edit this custom menu with the pencil icon on the menu later)
-Map the keys such as the 'S' key to the radial menu
-Close and Close and Ok
-Now when you hit the key the radial menu pops up and you can just swipe the mouse in the direction of the mapped menu item or click on it.

The extra movement or click I am not fond of but given you get 4 mapped functions in one I may learn to love it.

Hi behnt,

the FAQ #60 applies to our legacy driver - 3DxSoftware - only as mentioned at the top of the article.

The way how you map "S" to a button is perfect if you want to use the Radial Menu. If you don't want to use the Radial Menu you can just type the letter directly into the button (instead of choosing the drop down). :)
