Hi Daniel,

I am sorry that you didn't get an answer from our support team. How did you contact them? If it was through our website can you post the link of the page you used? Do you remember when you contacted us?

A firmware update can only be made if the device is recognized by Windows. Otherwise the tool doesn't find the device either.
Not all devices are eligible for a firmware update. The older devices are not. Please send me the PID of your device in a PM and I can tell you if might be able to flash the new firmware to it.

Hi lemmeleif,

yes, please send me the PID in a PM. I will take care of this. If your device isn't too old and if it still recognized on another machine where you can install the Flash tool I am sure we can solve this. :)

Thank you for your response, UtaSH. I tried to PM you but I am not allowed due to registering on this forum a short while ago.

I get the following message when I want to compose a PM:

We are sorry, but you are not authorized to use this feature. You may have just registered here and may need to participate more to be able to use this feature.
Is there an alternative way I can reach you or do I need to make more replies in different topics?

Chalk up another person experiencing these exact same issues.

I can take the device to other computers and it works just fine with latest driver and same Win 7 OS but it will not install on my new machine that was just purchased. I did get one instance of it lighting up but not working when I tired putting the original drivers off the disc on after not having any luck with the newest set via online but since un-installing and reinstalling several times I get no where with it. Just a big paper weight. I'm out of ideas. I've been back and forth with Technical Support via email and unfortunately everything they've suggested doesn't seem to be working.

Would appreciate any help with this. I love this thing and am missing it dearly using Solidworks 10 hours a day.

Finally one thing absolutely made it work, I unplugged the USB cord and used a clean piece of metal with a bit of a sharp edge and gently cleaned the 4 gold contacts inside the plug, this is the very first time I have been 100% confident that this one action absolutely made a difference. The moment I plugged it in it powered up with the blue light under the puck
I have the discontinued Space Pilot that was working great. Then just didn't start up one day. Wasted several hours throughout the next few days trying to figure it out. I thought it was bricked as the computer would not even recognize that there was anything even being plugged in to it. Tried taking it to two other computers and plugging it in with no response from them either. But then I read this post!!! I happen to have a pair of tweezers on my desk so I used them to lightly scuff the gold contacts on the usb plug of the Space Pilot and it worked!!!! Thank you very much for posting this fix!!!

I have a space navigator which I want to use on my laptop. I'm running windows 8 64bit home edition and I wish to use it for google sketchup. I already have sketchup installed on my computer. I have used the space mouse for a couple of years on this machine and the space mouse just quit.

The FAQ for this situation is USELESS. The .dll file listed in FAQ 28 are not in the Windows 8 area proscribed. I have uninstalled the old software and deleted the 3D connexion software from the program file area of Windows. I reinstalled the 3D connexion software from the site and no soap.

The USB port works fine as it will "run" everything that I have.

Now what ?

Hello Frank V,

do you see the SpaceNavigator listed in the device manager? It should appear in the category "Human Interface Devices".

Have you tried different USB ports?

Does it make a difference if you stop the driver and re-start it as administrator?

Usually the driver and the application have to be running at the same level. Normally a regular user. If one is elevated, windows security will prevent the lower level one from talking to the higher level one.
