Properties dialog won't open

I've just installed my 3D Wireless Spacemouse and everything works as expected but I can't access the Properties box. The 3D Mounse Home panel shows the Properties button and when I press that it shows as being depressed but nothing else happens. When I go to the Notification area and try to access the Properties from there, the Properties dialog box also fails to open.
I've uninstalled the software and re-installed it but the problem remains.

Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?
Any help would be most appreciated.

I've tried the advice given here...

I have recently experienced the same thing and tried the same process with no luck. It's very aggravating as I use my mouse for SketchUp modeling and with the recent maintenance update it reset the camera properties from object fly mode to the default which is inverse to what I prefer to work with.

Support have guided me to this solution which I'll share with you now.

The answer to this is that AVG blocks it from opening. I first added an exception in the Windows Firewall because it was missing and that didn't help. You need to add an exception to AVGs list, in my case it was 3DxSmartUI.exe (from C:\Program Files\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\3DxWinCore64 for a 64bit Windows)

You can google 'avg exception list' to find out how to add that.
